Image Search Optimization

Image search optimization is one of the tactics you can adopt to enhance the visibility of your domain in search engines. Search engines can’t “read” images, so an “alt tag” is used in order to provide a textual replacement of the picture and to give users access to information related to the image, especially those users who are visually impaired.

Adding keywords to alt tags can also enhance SEO. By adding alt tags to your images, you stand a better chance of your domain appearing in Image Results in search engines when someone searches for your target keywords. The keywords used in your image alt tag should be directly related to the keywords you are targeting on the page the image is on.  When choosing image formats to display pictures in your site, it is best to use either the .jpg or .gif formats. Such image formats can reduce the size of the images and use only a few bytes, while maintaining high quality.
