Registrars for domain names of Taiwan

Taiwan registrars are legal entities endowed with the responsibility of registering the domain names ending with the domain name .tw. The registrar is governed by the official Registry, Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC). TWNIC is a non-profit association whose main function is the registration of domain names and providing the services for it.

Taiwan registrars play a very important role in the registration of the domain names ending with .tw. The service charges of the registrar vary according to the changes occurring in the present market scenario. The ccTLD (country code top-level domain extension) is assigned by the official registry, TWNIC, in Taiwan and it is not necessary that the ccTLD be approved by the ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers).

The TWNIC, registrars of the top-level domain .tw, registers the sub-domains like com.tw, org.tw, net.tw, idv.tw and the like. TWNIC has authorized several firms for the process of registering domain names ending in .tw that is of the domain names of Taiwan. For developing the scope of the domain name .tw, TWNIC has formed a partnership with NeuLevel. NeuoLevel performs registration services for the foreign entities with the consultation of TWNIC.

The TWNIC has endorsed six firms as domain name registrars. They are:

  • Asia Pacific Online Service Inc (APOL), which was incorporated in 2000, and they are the leaders in this field.
  • PC Home Online Co. Ltd, which is the biggest Internet media in Chinese language and they give quality service to its users.
  • Net Chinese Co. Ltd, which specializes in registering domain names and they provide a variety of e-services.
  • TISNET
  • Chunghwa Telecom Co. Ltd
  • Digital United Inc. (SeedNet)
