The TLD extension .sd for Sudan was introduced in the year 1997 and created for entities connected with Sudan. On 20 December 2002, ICANN signed a ccTLD Sponsorship Agreement with the Sudan Internet Society, assigning the role of the administrator responsible for assigning .sd domain names to the Sudan Internet Society. The terms and conditions for registration are in accordance with the policies of ICANN.
