What is recycled traffic?

Adopting a “recycled traffic” strategy is a means of acquiring traffic from ranked-but-expired domain names that are already indexed by the search engines.

Every day thousands of domain names expire; some of these may be ranked in search engines and generating traffic. You can purchase these domain names which were active and redirect them to your site so that you get some traffic for your website.

Certain domain brokers specialize in the reselling of expired domain names. They offer this “expiry” stream for sale via auction, generally—and names are available relatively cheaply, often for well under $100.

Given that developing search engine traffic for websites is expensive, acquisition of a number of “recycled domains” is a smart way of building traffic to your main site via 301 redirects.
