.py ccTLD Background

The NIC Paraguay is the official registry that is in charge of .py registration. Launched in 1991, the .py extension is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) approved by ICANN for the Republic of Paraguay.

.py Domain Name Rules & Restrictions

All registrants seeking a .py domain name must have a contact in Paraguay. In the case of companies or organizations, it is essential to have a constituted presence within the country. Alternately you must have an authorized administrative contact in Paraguay. The chosen domain name can have two to sixty three characters, but it is recommended to have characters ranging from five to twenty-four. The domain name applied for must be the name of the organization, trademark or a name representing the organization’s function. An applicant does not have any right to use the names of other established organizations or those names owned by some other party.
