What is the purpose of .org.tw domains?

The org.tw is the official sub-domain of the non-profit organizations based in Taiwan. The country code top-level domain of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is .tw which was established in 1989.

Taiwan Network Information Centre (TWNIC) is the official registry and sponsor of .tw. The sub-domain name .org.tw was assigned by the Domain Name Committee. While sponsored by TWNIC, the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has not approved the domain .org.tw.

The duration for registering org.tw is for 1 or 2 years for a prescribed fee, so long as the terms and conditions continue.

The Registry Administrator, TWNIC, has the power to cancel or refuse a domain name registration if it receives directions from appropriate authorities like the registrant, a court under whose jurisdiction it comes or from the provider or if it has enough evidence that the registrant has violated the rules and regulations prescribed. It is the Registry Administrator that prescribes the method for resolving such disputes according to the rules of the Republic of China. The cost is to be compensated by the petitioner or as said by the appropriate authority.
