.info Domain Name Registration

What Is a .info Domain Name?

The .info registration is one of the seven new generic top-level domains (gTLDs), which work exactly like the .com, .net, and .org domain names. The .info gTLD is primarily intended for the use for informative websites and is generally available to anyone in the world. You can use .info domain extension code for business, personal use, or for your organization.

The .info extension, a universally recognized and easy to use domain name, provides you with the opportunity to reach a huge worldwide audience with information about your products, ideas, services, business, or organization. It is said to be universally recognized because any person in the world can reach .info domains through their web browsers or e-mail.

The .info domain registrations are vested in the hands of Afilias — a global provider of Internet domain name registry services — that has been managing the domain since 2001. Recent studies have estimated that the United States has the highest .info registrations, with Germany in second place.

What Can a .info Domain Name Be Composed of?

For .info registration, English-language letters A through Z, and the digits 0 through 9, and hyphens are accepted within .info domain names. But hyphens cannot begin or end your domain name. Spaces and special characters such as $, !, &, , and so on are also not allowed. The minimum word length allowed is three characters and the maximum is sixty three characters.

Currently, .info supports nine Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) scripts including Latvian (LV), Korean (KO), Polish (PL), Hungarian (HU), Swedish (SV), Lithuanian (LT), German (DE), Danish (DA), and Icelandic (IS).

Registrations for .info domain can be processed through any Afilias — authorized .info registrars. By simply searching on the Internet, you can find several .info registration providers that offer services such as web hosting, domain renewal, e-mail service, and more.
