.idv.hk Domain Names Registration, Process, Regulations

The .idv domain is reserved for websites regarding an individual. Adults or minors above the age of 12 have access to the .idv.hk domain, which is maintained and controlled by Hong Kong Domain Name Registration Company Limited (HKDNR).

An .idv.hk domain name may contain at least one or more Chinese characters, one or more lowercase or uppercase English letters, numbers and hyphens. It should not have more than 15 Chinese letters or numbers and must begin and end with a Chinese character, a letter, or a number.

A domain name can be registered by any interested individual above the age of 12. The eligibility required for registering is that the applicant should be a resident of HKSAR (Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China). Registrants should provide the HKDNR with their HKID or other documents that will prove that they are a resident of HKSAR. If the person is a minor, his/her parents also need to provide HKDNRCL with their HKID and birth certificate of the minor.

To register an .idv.hk domain name, an application has to be sent in during the Priority-Registration period, and the information provided in the application should be complete and accurate. If the domain references, in any manner, words such as ‘insurance,’ ‘bank’ and ‘assurance’, the registrant is required to provide relevant documents from the concerned authorities. The domain name chosen should not violate the legal rights of a third party and should not be used for any unlawful purpose. Neither should the applicant violate the applicable laws by knowingly using the domain name of another individual.

An applicant can transfer the domain name registration, which is subject to the registration rules and regulations and any dispute related to the .idv.hk domain name should be resolved according to the rules of the HKDNR Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.
