.hr Domain Name Background Information

The .hr extension signifies the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Croatia, a country in Europe at the crossroads of the Mediterranean and Central Europe. Launched in 1993, the .hr registration service is administrated by the CARnet (Croatian Academic and Research Network).

.hr Domain Name Rules and Regulations

Applicants must be a citizen of Croatia, a permanent resident, or a registered company in Croatia. Domain names are represented by a string of characters ranging from three to sixty three characters and can include both the English alphabet (can be upper case or lower case letters), numbers (0 to 9) and hyphens. Always keep in mind that the starting and ending character of the string can never be a hypen. According to rules and regulations, certain types of domain names that fall under .hr registration are:

  • HR-P — domain for virtual identity of legal persons
  • HR-F — domain for virtual identity of citizens
  • HR-D — domain for virtual identity of private businesses of citizens
  • HR-T- domain for market demands and other additional demands of legal and natural persons
  • HR-V — domain for RH information space
  • HR-I — domain for improvement of RH information space

For domain name registration, you have to submit an online registration form with all the necessary information including but not limited to domain type, domain name and administrative contact information.
