What is the purpose of .game.tw domains?

The .game.tw domain extension is now popularly used by the evergrowing online and computer gaming community in Taiwan. Sponsorship of the domain is through the TWNIC (Taiwan Network Information Center), which sponsors all .tw domains.

When applying for a .game.tw domain, the registrant must have their identity confirmed through a valid and functional email address. It is then required that the .game.tw domain name must consist of at least 3 characters, and should not exceed 63 characters. Registrants can use all alphabetical characters, numbers from 0 to 9 and the hyphen. However, there are 2 important conditions that must be considered when creating a game.tw domain name: the domain name must not begin or finish with a hyphen ‘-’; in addition, the .game.tw sub domain should not contain symbols such as &, $, @, etc. These symbols are not language characters and any game.tw domain with these symbols will not be approved by the registry.

When a registrant submits the application form, they will be informed of the price for registration and renewal fees. The registration period of the .game.tw domain can be extended from 1 to 10 years. However, there are some guidelines, restrictions and policies for using the domain name, and these need to be strictly followed. And like all .tw domains, a .game.tw domain cannot be used for unlawful purposes. Based on the policy in the Domain Name Dispute Resolution, the TWNIC has the power to cancel the domain name. Additionally, the process for transferring, modifying, or deleting a .game.tw domain name is governed by the rules included in the registration agreement. Any domain name dispute should be settled using the official dispute resolution policy.
