Singapore Domain Registration Policies

The Singapore Domain Registration Policies describe the terms and conditions that govern the domain name registrations under the Singapore Network Information Center (SGNIC). Collectively known as the RPPG, this SGNIC registration agreement document outlines the domain registration policies, procedures and guidelines

The Singapore Domain Registrations policies include several important rules for registering domain names. The following types of domain names are restricted:

  • Domain names which include words such as ‘Singapore’, ‘Singapore Government’, ‘president’ or other variations.
  • Domain names which include ‘NIC’, ‘SGNIC’ or other variations.
  • Domain names which contain scandalous, indecent, obscene words or references.
  • Domain names such as name of countries or geographical names are also not allowed.
  • Domain names with existing gTLDs are also restricted.
  • Domain names created with numerals alone are also not allowed.

SGNIC provides domain name registration under .sg, and the second level domain categories available include: .com.sg (for businesses and companies), .org.sg (for societies), .net.sg (for network providers), .edu.sg (for schools and institutions), .gov.sg (for government bodies) and .per.sg (for natural persons). The applicants of the .per.sg domain name must be Singapore citizens, aged 21 years or older and permanent residents. The applicant must also have a valid name service from a minimum two operational domain name servers for a domain name. Domain names are usually allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

During the domain registration approval process, SGNIC relies on all warranties and representations submitted by applicant. SGNIC has the exclusive right to check any domain name registration records at any time.
