Hong Kong Domain Name Registration Fees

What is the cost of registering a Hong Kong .hk domain name?

The fees for registering a Hong Kong domain name are to be paid to the official third party registrars. The registration service providers charge certain fees at the time of registration, as per their tariff policies. All fees are determined by registration agreement coordinated by the HKNIC.

The tariff plans may vary from one service provider to another. For second level or third level Hong Kong domain name registration, the fee schedule may typically vary even with a single service provider based on the contract term you have chosen. The fee for registering a Hong Kong domain name is collected either at the time of registration, or after successful verification of request application. The domain name is activated only after paying the registration fee to the domain name registrar.

Most of the registration service providers charge different fees for various services including initial registration, renewal, re-registration, modification of server name, transfer of domain name, special requested services, and administrative fees. The registration fee is only paid once and is not refundable in most cases. A certain or full amount of registration fee may be given back to the registrant on completion of the contract period or discount period, however.

With an intention to grab more clients, some service providers proffer registration either free of cost, or at discount rates with additional benefits. The registration fee is accepted in various forms based on the payment method each provider opts for.

Registration fees are determined by the type of domain and the length of the contract. At this time, a one year contract for a .hk domain name registered through HKDNR is $250. For details on all the fees, visit their fee schedule page .
