Everything you need to know about domain traffic
Building domain traffic to your website requires some good fundamentals: choose an appropriate set of domain names, preferably one with some relevance to your business, establish a website with SEO best practices in mind (such as a clear, relevant page title, appropriate headline tags, keyword-focused content and so on), and supporting social media and perhaps paid search engine marketing through Google Adwords or other venues.
When you purchase an existing domain—a premium name that has been registered—you have some built-in SEO advantages and domain traffic from the legacy site that may be a significant and lucrative stream.
Note that search engines such as Google do consider “domain age” (i.e. the period of time since the name was first registered) in their search algorithms, so premium domains do offer an advantage over newly-registered domains.
Premium domain names may have past visitors that have”bookmarked” the pre-existing website before and continue to visit the site, other websites may have linked to this domain name and people may “type-in” an expired domain name without realizing the old website is no longer active.
However, if you just registered your domain name, don’t panic; your domain is still capable of attracting domain traffic. Focus on basic domain optimization: create relevant, engaging web content (with an eye on SEO best practices), design a search-engine-friendly website, and market your domain to create your brand.
While some companies offer to help website owners to boost domain traffic, these services can be expensive and may be unnecessary when first launching your business.
